Paul
graduated from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia with a Bachelor of
Business Administration degree, majoring in accounting.
After working for a large regional firm in Atlanta for three years,
Paul relocated to Raleigh and joined the firm in 1988.
Paul was named a partner in the firm in 1995.
Paul
has experience working with a broad variety of small to mid-sized
organizations and individuals in the areas of accounting, auditing, tax
planning and compliance as well as business advisory services.
Business sectors that Paul has served include not-for-profit
organizations, insurance industry entities, ERISA retirement and health
benefit plans, retail and service companies, medical practices, commercial
construction contractors and subcontractors, manufacturing, wholesalers,
real estate, and auto dealerships.
Paul
concentrates his practice in providing services to professional and trade
organizations and public charities, and is qualified and proficient in
performing A-133 Single Audits. Paul has both authored published articles
and presented seminars on issues pertinent to not-for-profit organizations.
Paul also focuses his efforts in
serving insurance industry entities, including mutual insurance companies,
self insured funds, voluntary employees’ beneficiary associations, and third
party administrators. Paul has extensive experience in the preparation and
review of statutory and regulatory filings submitted to the National
Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and the North Carolina
Department of Insurance.
Paul is
a member of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants
(NCACPA), including a leadership role on the Not-for-Profit committee of
NCACPA. Paul’s other memberships
include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Association
Executives of North Carolina,
and the North Carolina Center for Non-Profits.
Paul is also an active member of Trinity Baptist Church in Raleigh
and also has served as President and Treasurer of the International Affairs
Council.
