Lowell graduated from East Carolina University
in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and a concentration in
accounting. In addition to his client audit and tax responsibilities, Lowell
serves as Partner in charge of the Consulting Group and Practice Development
for the firm.
Lowell joined the firm in 2009 as a partner and for the past twenty six
years has worked in public accounting with a wide variety of mid-market ,
privately held companies and individuals in the areas of business
improvement and profit enhancement consulting, audit and accounting,
taxation, merger and acquisitions, strategic and succession planning,
management advisory services and personal financial planning. He has
developed an in-depth understanding of services for construction contractors
and subcontractors, real estate developers, manufacturing and distribution,
health care, professional service companies and ERISA audits for retirement
plans. Prior to this, he worked in international accounting and finance for
The Wall Street Journal, a Fortune 500 Company owned by Dow Jones and
Company.
In 1999, Lowell was the first in North Carolina to be designated as a
Certified Profit Enhancement Consultant (CPEC) by the Institute of Profit
Advisors. The Institute is a national organization dedicated to training
it’s business improvement consultants how to work with businesses to enhance
profits, empower and train employees to be responsible for constantly
improving their organization, promote efficiency in a company’s core
business processes and increase its shareholder and stakeholder value.
Lowell’s designation certifies that he has demonstrated his ability as a
business and profit improvement coach in the areas listed above and has
completed rigorous training designed to help businesses increase profits and
shareholder value. He has worked with many businesses using this process to
help reach their goals, solve problems that have been unsolved for years and
unlock hidden profits.
Lowell is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants, The North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants,
Institute of Profit Advisors, and AICPA’s Tax planning and Advising for
Closely Held Business Certificate program. He also has been active in his
community serving as Chairman of the Board, President, Director and
Treasurer of Croasdaile Country Club, Director/Trustee of The Summit Church,
Jaycees, Durham Arts Council; finance committee member for Durham Academy
School and New Hope Church; member of Association for General Contractors,
Home Builders Association, Association of Accounting Marketing, CPA
Association International Construction and Marketing Committees, Exchange
Club and the Economic Development Committee for the Greater Durham Chamber
of Commerce |
